For many 'Titanic' fans, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet will forever be known as Jack and Rose. And for those people, there's a part of them that probably wonders if a real-life, off-screen romance ever blossomed between the two actors?

Winslet sets the record straight in the latest issue of Marie Claire in the U.K. According to Winslet (quotes via ET), they were never anything more than friends.

"It's so disappointing for people to hear that," she confessed in the November issue of the magazine. "Because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did."

It seems Winslet doesn't think she would've been Leo's type anyway. "[Leo] always saw me as one of the boys. I've never really been a girly-girl."

So what makes them such strong friends? "I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing," she continued. "We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system."

After the 1997 movie which made them overnight celebrities, DiCaprio and Winslet later reunited for the 2009 movie 'Revolutionary Road.'
