Katy Perry opened the 2013 American Music Awards tonight (Nov. 24) by performing her new single 'Unconditionally' while dressed in full geisha garb.

The performance had a distinctly Asian flare -- with fans, umbrella props and a scenic backdrop, which included shrubbery and distinctly Far Eastern architecture. Her pretty floral dress, complete with a gigantic bow in the back, looked amazeballs on her.

There appeared to be some sort of sound issue, since Perry, who looked absolutely stunning with black baby bangs, mega-long and curled lashes and ruby red, matte lips, was a tad hard to hear during the first verse of the song.

Vocally, it wasn't her best performance, since Perry isn't exactly a belter. But she more than made up for it with the gorgeous visual spectacle, especially with the confetti that fell to the stage at the end of her performance. While confetti usually comes last, Perry was flipping the script and it worked for her.
