This sounds like a flick we need to see! Katy Perry and Adele are neck and neck for a role in 'One Chance, the biopic of Paul Potts, the famous opera-singing winner of 2007's 'Britain's Got Talent.'

The New York Post reports that Perry was approached by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein about the project and seemed "genuinely interested." Weinstein reportedly asked Perry about the role of Potts' wife in the 'Billy Elliott'-style film at a pre-Oscars party. Perry told Weinstein, “I love a challenge.” The role likely would be a challenge indeed: Perry's acting experience is relegated to a voice in 'The Smurfs' and guest roles in sitcoms like 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Raising Hope.'

Weinstein told the Post, “I was talking to Katy about a new project, a possible dramatic role in the Paul Potts movie, which will be shooting in England soon. We’d really like someone like Katy or Adele to play the role of Potts’ wife, and Katy seemed genuinely interested.”

The casting choices are leading many to believe that the film is a musical. Why? Adele is also being considered for the part, and she's never done any acting at all. Reports say that Potts' real-life wife, Julie-Ann Cooper, resembles Adele more closely and that Perry may have to undergo quite a transformation -- at least in her famous figure -- for the part.

A British actor is said to be in the running for the lead role of Potts himself, a carphone salesman turned international singing sensation. After blowing the judges (including Simon Cowell!) and audiences away with his 'Britain's Got Talent' audition, Potts went on to win the competition and top the charts in nine countries -- as well as perform for Queen Elizabeth! Check out his moving audition below. It still gives us chills!
