Midwestern-based Katy Perry fans are going to be bummed, as the singer has been forced to cancel a batch of shows this weekend, having fallen ill with food poisoning due to severe dehydration. According to a local ABC News source, Perry's concert at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. has been postponed to Aug. 21. The show was slated to take place this evening.

Her Minneapolis show, scheduled for Saturday, was also postponed to Aug. 23. Both shows will take place at the originally planned venue and tickets already purchased will be honored next month. However, if you were planning to rock with the 'California Gurl' this weekend but can't make the rescheduled dates, refunds will be offered at the point of purchase.

What is it with our favorite pop divas falling ill on the road? It's happened quite a bit this year, with Adele scrapping her entire tour due to throat issues (but then later rescheduling), while Taylor Swift canceled a handful of shows this week due to a bout with bronchitis.

It's a simple formula, really. Life on the road is not the same as life at home, since touring musicians are subject to more germs than normal people. It's also a hectic, chaotic lifestyle, where things like nutrition and proper self-care can fall by the wayside in favor of promotional events, interviews, radio station visits and fan meet and greets. See what we mean about an overabundance of germs and lack of normalcy?

Let's hope all our favorite pop divas grab some tubes of anti-bacterial hand sanitizer, eat properly and take better care of themselves on the road so they don't have to cancel shows!
