Something is rotten in the state of Katy Perry. At least that’s what The New York Post is reporting!

The Post claims that Perry, who has churned out hit after hit, has had a falling out with uber producer Dr. Luke. The Grammy-nominated record producer and mixer has churned out hit after hit for Perry, Britney Spears, Kesha and a host of other starlets. His resume boasts 21 No. 1 singles from a smattering of pop starlets overall and he twiddled knobs for some of Perry's biggest hits, including 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream.'

Something was noticeably afoot when Dr. Luke -- real name Lukasz Gottwald -- went silent. In December, he stopped promoting Perry’s music in interviews and on Twitter -- dangerously close to Grammy time. (He did reportedly post a Tweet about Perry on Friday!)

Word is that the two fell out and ceased speaking. Things are apparently so bad that Luke won't be working on Perry's next platter.  An associate told the Post that Perry grew fatigued by "the same familiar sound" that permeates Luke's records and that she is over his attitude. The producer is known for his abrasive approach, with the source saying, "He just curses them out. He thinks he owns them because he made them," about the artists he works with.

Another source adds, "It's a battle of the egos ... A lot of people think that without Dr. Luke, Katy's going to have a big problem. She's not much of a songwriter or vocalist, and she's gonna have to start from scratch. You can't just bring in any producer to make magic. The label is really pushing her to work on another album while she's hot."

Despite all the speculation, a rep for Dr. Luke said, "This is ridiculous. They just put the finishing touches on Katy's newest single, which they created together, in February. They had a great time, and the single is amazing. He wishes Katy nothing but continued success and looks forward to working with her again soon."

Perry's rep has yet to comment.
