The only way to get over a bad relationship is by avoiding contact with the ex. At least that's what Katy Perry has done after Russell Brand filed for divorce in late 2011.

"He hasn’t spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce," she told the Daily Telegraph. "I don’t want to talk about him — my songs will say what I need to say."

The couple tied the knot in 2010 in India. While the couple seemed happy on the red carpet, the marriage was short-lived, and the two split the following year.

Despite the very public relationship and then divorce, the drama that surrounded Katy and Russell hasn't turned the Prism singer off from falling in love again. "No, absolutely not," she said. "I’m excited by whatever it brings. I’m excited by my own evolution."

She also added, "I don’t want to end up bittersweet. I have to evolve, I have to continue to push people’s perceptions of me. As an artist I like to do that, keep people on the edge of their seats."

Since splitting from Russell, she has been linked to John Mayer, Diplo and Riff Raff. Meanwhile Russell has spoken publicly about his relationship and separation from Katy including a documentary that put some focus on their relationship, which premiered at this year's SXSW.

The "Roar" pop star has also thought about having a family in the future. "I’m still growing up," she explained, "I’m still learning about myself. When I become a mother I just want to become a mother and be dedicated to that."

Katy has been busy on her "Prismatic World Tour," which will kick off again in September in South America.
