Katy Perry has done it all — she’s released platinum albums, toured all over the world, debuted a big-screen movie and signature fragrance. Now, the pop star is taking on another side of the music biz with Metamorphosis Music, a joint venture record label with Capital Records.

The 29-year-old singer not only launched Metamorphosis Music, but she also signed her first artist, pop singer Ferras, whose self-titled EP dropped digitally today.

The ‘Birthday’ singer first met Ferras in 2007 when they both joined Capitol Records. Thanks to their budding work relationship over the years, she was confident that his talent as a singer, songwriter and musician would make him the perfect fit for her new label.

“Ferras is a man with a message,” Katy said in a statement, “and a unique lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen.”

That’s a pretty glowing review from the princess of pop!

Katy worked as the executive producer on Ferras’ EP, and even added some vocal tracks of her own on their duet ‘Legends Never Die.’

“Her instincts are really on point,” Ferras said of the ‘Prism’ star. “She is very blunt and doesn’t sugarcoat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I want musically and was a natural partner.”

Any Katy fans heading to one of the North American dates on her Prismatic World Tour will get to see Ferras live, as he’ll be her opener for the entire leg. Check out the dates here.
