Ever since 'I Kissed a Girl,' each of Katy Perry's videos have told a story. Based on the trailer, we can't wait to see the full narrative for 'Part of Me.'

Clad in fatigues and camo, Perry is clearly not taking a breakup lying down. The video has an army motif, but the feel is distinctly different from her BFF Rihanna's take on tanks in 'Rude Boy.' Whereas RiRi's guns and heavy artillery were symbolic of something a bit racier, Perry's warfare represents fighting for her own sanity after a split, as well as taking the lyrics "Throw your bombs and your blows" literally.

While the song is about a breakup, Perry insists that it's not about her bustup with ex husband Russell Brand.  “I wrote it two years ago, which is funny because everyone is like, ‘Oh, it sounds so current!’” Perry said. “Some people I work with are like, ‘You should just say you wrote it a couple weeks ago.’”

We see glimpses of Perry training in what appears to be a boot camp, with fighters grappling it out amongst themselves and struggling underwater before lining up to face an unseen enemy.

Though the clip is brief, it promises to be pretty epic (though we gotta admit, her makeup reminds us more of Gotye than of trenches). What are the chances she'll gun down a Russell Brand look-alike?

The music video premieres on Wednesday, March 21 at 7:23PM ET on MTV, along with an exclusive interview of Perry!
