Fans of Kelly Clarkson will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the singer's fifth studio album, whose release date has been pushed back from a planned summer release to September.

About a month ago, Clarkson reported she was one song away from finishing the new album, and it seems that now she is indeed finished with the record. But, as she reported on her Facebook page, "I recently found out that my album won't be coming out until September. The album has been recorded but I can't release it until then."

Sounding a bit disappointed and skeptical herself, Clarkson went on to say "I realize that is a long time but that's the best time to release it apparently, so I'm sorry for the wait but I promise you it sounds great!"

According to MTV.com, the new album will feature a strong soul music influence, with the singer name-checking Prince , Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin as artists she was thinking of while creating the album.

Kelly Clarkson's last album, 2009's All I Ever Wanted,' spawned several hit singles and further cemented her title as the 'American Idol' alumni with the most records sold -- so far well over 20 million albums and 35 million singles.
