We know the sound of Kelly Clarkson's "Heartbeat Song," but as of last night's stop (August 25) along the singer's Piece by Piece tour, her pulse developed a slightly different timbre.

Clarkson, who's most recently covered Lana Del Rey, Demi Lovato and...perplexing Tinder profiles... on the road, turned to Selena Gomez's "The Heart Wants What it Wants" at her Phoenix performance, giving her fan request segment a bit of atrial flutter. SO MANY HEART ALLUSIONS, SO LITTLE TIME.

"This is one of my favorites," Kelly begins in the video above, "I love [Selena] too, she's pretty sweet."

Where many of Kelly's covers find her reaching for the stars, this particular tune keeps her feet on the ground, and the many glottal stops it calls for give it a funky quality that hark back to her "Lose Yourself" depiction. Sadly, though, there's no hoodie in sight this time around.

And Kelly's covers aren't the only thing making waves along her tour. Last week, she announced that she was pregnant with a second child after mysteriously beginning to cry during a performance of her album's eponymous track.

"I was not planning on announcing this,” she shared with a Los Angeles crowd. “[But] I’m totally pregnant, so I’m having a hard time."

Listen to Kelly's take on the Selena hit below, and tell us where you think it ranks among her wide catalog of covers.
