Kendrick Lamar Reacts to Taylor Swift’s Comments About ‘Backseat Freestyle’

In her recent interview with Rolling Stone, Taylor Swift shared the secret "to immediately go from feeling victimized to feeling awesome." Her solution is to crank up some Kendrick Lamar, specifically his song 'Backseat Freestyle.'

The Associated Press reports that the news eventually reached the hip-hop singer himself, who was grateful to learn Taylor is a fan and calls his track a "go-to."

"Some people always try to lock it down and categorize it for one particular listener," Lamar reportedly said at the fifth annual ONE Musicfest in Atlanta on Sept. 13 (quotes via Billboard). "But it moves all, even people from other genres."

Kendrick went on to thank the 'Shake It Off' singer for embracing the musical genre.

"I appreciate Taylor Swift for supporting not only my music but just the hip-hop culture," he added. "There's really no gap. It's music and it feels good."

Seeing as the two artists seem to admire each other, we're hoping that down the line they might even hit the studio together!
