Lady Gaga is being rewarded for her risky and sometimes outrageous fashion choices, including raw meat dresses, towering platform heels, mega shoulder pads, full leather ensembles and telephone-shaped hats!

According to the Associated Press, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, AKA the CFDA, has selected the pop star as this year's style icon. The Fashion Icon award will be presented at ceremony to be held June 6, a mere few weeks after Gaga's much-anticipated 'Born This Way' hits retail shelves. Model Iman was last year's recipient of the award.

The evening's other major award will be bestowed upon designer Marc Jacobs, who is winning the lifetime achievement award. Perhaps Gaga and Jacobs will become fast friends due to their CFDA honors and collaborate because of it.

Gaga has used her fashion influence for good, as she raised $250,000 for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief by designing bracelets -- with proceeds donated to the victims of the national disaster.

In other Gaga good news, the singer's infectious dance anthem 'Born This Way' is No. 1 for the fifth week in a row on the Billboard charts. Gaga tweeted the news to her adoring fans, posting: "This is our biggest hit ever monsters! You are amazing!"
