Lady Gaga debuted the video for 'The Edge of Glory' on tonight's episode of 'So You Think You Can Dance.' It was an appropriate partnership, since Gaga is known for her elaborate dancing in her videos and while on stage. She even performed on Season 4 of the series, singing her single (fittingly) 'Just Dance.'

The video opens on the fire escape of a brick building in an urban environment -- and this facade is where most of the glorious action takes place. Gaga is wearing a short blonde and black bobbed wig, and a black and gold bra top, thigh high fishnets and boots throughout. She looks as though she is sporting dominatrix gear and underwear, as opposed to actual clothes, but do you expect anything more at this point? This is Gaga's uniform by now and she likes to cavort in as little attire as possible. She almost looks a little like Elizabeth Berkley in 'Showgirls' when she was cloaked in black latex and pushed her nemesis Crystal down the stairs.

Gaga dances her way up and down the steps of the fire escape; it feels like an homage to her days as a struggling artist on the Lower East Side when she literally was on the edge of glory and on the precipice of 'The Fame.'

Considering the largeness and epic scope of the videos for 'Born This Way' and 'Judas,' the latter of which Gaga co-directed, 'The Edge of Glory' clip is simple and subdued by comparison. And you know what? It works, because the song has such a strong message. There is not a bevy of dancers filling the set. It's just Gaga and saxophonist Clarence Clemons.

Clemons, who suffered a stroke earlier this week, is doing his thing while sitting on concrete steps of a brownstone, while Gaga lays on her back on the railing and moves her body. When he blasts through his sax solo, Gaga dances like a fiend, clearly moved by the music he is making. There is a tender, blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot of Gaga sitting next to Clemons, with her back to his side, leaning against him. It's a touching moment that was  likely unintended and now carries more weight, since Clemons fell ill.

Given his recent illness, his cameo is that much more special, especially for Gaga, who earlier this week tweeted: "In bed with Mommy thinking about Clarence, I can't wait for you to see the beautiful video we made together. He's a really special person." There is also a shot of Gaga laying on the ground, pointing up at Clemons and singing the lyric about being "on the edge with you." She also kisses the concrete twice.

Another piece of Gaga news was revealed on this episode of 'SYTYCD': Gaga will make a guest appearance this season, serving on the judge's panel for an episode.
