The rivalry between Lady Gaga and Madonna, which was started, stoked and supported by Madonna with her near-constant onstage disses of Gaga, nearly came to an end in the Bronx last month. Rumor has it that Madonna extended an olive branch and offered native New Yorker (and Yankee fan) Gaga a chance to duet onstage when Madge played Yankee Stadium. Gaga turned her down, though!

Whoa! Wait... what?

It would have been beyond fitting for Gaga and Madge to kiss and make up onstage, since that's been the scene of Madge's crimes. She constantly attacks and criticizes Mother Monster while she is performing. Her latest slap, during which she says that she loves Gaga because imitation is a high form of flattery, can be seen here.

The Sun reports that Gaga rebuffed Madonna's advances, simply because she was too busy planning and preparing for her Born This Way Ball tour to commit. She did not turn Madge down due to their longstanding feud.

Vincent Herbert, one of Gaga's managers, said, "Madonna called to ask Gaga to perform with her at Yankee Stadium. Her manager reached out to us and said Madonna would like Gaga to perform with her." Hey continued, "She really wished she could do it. She said, 'If we do it, let's donate the money to charity.' But Gaga's committed to her own tour."

Foiled!

We'd have sold a few pints of blood or gave up a limb in order to see Gaga and Madge on a single stage. That would have buried the feud between our two favorite blonde, Italian pop stars forever. We're shocked that Gaga didn't make every effort to accept this offer. If she did, the result would have been epic, times 10.

In other Gaga "duet" news, the rumors that she will do a full jazz album with crooner Tony Bennett are rearing their heads again. Tony's talking about it; Gaga is not.

We gotta know what you think, PopCrushers. Would a Gaga/Madonna onstage collabo put their feud to bed for good? Are you bummed that Gaga didn't make it work?
