Lady Gaga’s Parents to Open Italian Eatery Next Week

Lady Gaga‘s parents Joe and Cynthia Germanotta are officially opening their long-discussed Italian eatery Joanne Trattoria next Wednesday, Feb. 1. The restaurant is located on West 68th Street and will serve up the kind of Italian fare the Mother Monster grew up eating and enjoying.

The New York Times already profiled Joanne Trattoria, revealing that there is a front bar, a back patio and that the cozy establishment will hold up to 70 people or so. The décor will feature artwork of the Tuscan countryside and there is a smattering of family photos, but there will be no shots of Gaga in her signature heels or meat dress. If they decide to share a photo of their little Stefani, it’ll be something unrecognizable!

Mr. Germanotta is warning little monsters that Joanne will not be a shrine to his famous daughter, either. It’s a place to nosh! “If they’re expecting to come in here and see Grammys and pictures and stuff like that, it’s not going to happen,” he said about the little monsters. He also told the Times that Gaga is not a part owner of the eatery and that even without her massive success, the family still had the means with which to open Joanne.

So, do you wanna known about some of the tasty eats offered on the menu, which be overseen by partner and chef Art Smith? Papa G’s chicken will most likely be offered along with an osso buco (which is a veal and vegetable broth dish) inspired by his late sister, who the eatery is named after. Cynthia’s salad is named after Ma G. Gaga’s dad said it’s “Southern Italian” cuisine but simply because Smith is from the south and his family is from Italy!

Sundays will feature a Smith-designed menu over which he has complete control and is planning to create a “Southern Sunday” offering.

The plates aren’t too pricy by New York standards, and will be hover in the $25 to $30 price range for an entrée.

Who’s up for some spaghetti and meatballs at Joanne? Maybe the Germanottas can name that dish after Jo Calderone.
