Surprise, Little Monsters: LG5 might not be so far away, after all.

Today (August 17), Lady Gaga unveiled some massive news on her Instagram. No, not about the Italian cookbook or the movie or the television show or another installment of Cheek To Cheek with Tony Bennett: her new single is coming in September, and it's called "Perfect Illusion."

And she herself confirmed the news on Twitter this morning.

The music news aligns perfectly with some rather loud rumbling in the past few weeks.

Ten days ago, rumors began to swirl that a new Lady Gaga single would be arriving soon after radio DJ Chase Murphy of Mix 96.1 spilled the beans via DM to a fan. "Her record company told me to expect new LGG music within the next 30 days," he said.

Those VMAs rumors just got even hotter now, too: an alleged, very real-looking leak of the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards productions notes suggests that Gaga might possibly be opening the awards show.

“She’s a muso at heart...it’s really great to make this very honest, authentic, analog kind of record with her," collaborator Mark Ronson said of working with Gaga on her new music back in May.

“I can’t really get into it too much — I’m not trying to be coy, but I feel like it’s not my place. When the time’s right to tell the story, I feel like she should tell it. But it’s some of my favorite music I’ve really ever worked on. It’s incredible — I love it," he added in a Beats 1 interview with Zane Lowe earlier this month.

At the end of May, Ronson posted an Instagram in the studio with Gaga alongside Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker and Justin Bieber's "Sorry" co-producer Bloodpop.

The caption? "Illusion."

Prepare accordingly.
