Lana Del Rey, when she's not joining forces with witches around the world to cast spells to protect us from President Donald Trump, is doing overseas press at the moment — and also doing something in the studio with The Last Shadow Puppets' Miles Kane.

The giggly "Love" goddess called into an interview from a rehearsal space in LA with BBC Radio 2's Jo Whiley to discuss her brand new single, her upcoming album — and accidentally spill details on her current collaboration(s) with Miles Kane. She didn't reveal too much ("it's something else for fun"), but did point out that it's separate from her own album or a Last Shadow Puppets record.

"We've been writing some stuff which has been going well," she hinted before declining to offer up any more details. Such a tease.

Later on in the conversation, Jo and Lana discussed the BRITs, and Lana's first-ever experience at the ceremony when she won back in 2013. "I couldn't believe I was nominated," the Ultraviolence crooner recalled.

At the end, the conversation veered toward what Lana fans are most hungry to hear about: the new album, which she's been working on for well over a year now. And, as the reassuring lyrics of "Love" suggest, Lana is fully tuned into the political atmosphere — and it's coming through in her work.

"I started out thinking that the whole record was gonna have a ’50s-’60s feeling, like some kind of Shangri-Las, early Joan Baez influences. But as the climate kept on getting more heated politically, I found lyrically everything was just directed towards that. So because of that, the sound just got really updated, and I felt like it was more wanting to talk to the younger side of the audience that I have. I guess it’s a little more socially aware. It’s kind of a global feeling.”

Listen to the interview below, and let the Lana Del Reign of 2017 commence.
