Lil Wayne will join the ranks of legendary rappers who have performed on MTV's Unplugged series when he takes the stage for an acoustic concert next month.

'MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged' premieres on Sunday, June 12 at 9PM on MTV, MTV2 and mtv.com.

Amy Doyle, MTV's EVP of Music and Talent, said, "Lil Wayne is an amazing choice for Unplugged as he is at hip-hop's forefront — leading a new generation of artists whose appeal spans across music genres and playlists. Lil Wayne's skills, influence, and catalog are a powerful addition to the legacy of artists who have rocked the Unplugged stage."

This has the potential to be really exciting performance, especially if Weezy fully embraces the unplugged concept, meaning no pre-programmed beats and no samples.

Given that more than half of Weezy's hits feature other performers, you can bet there will be several guests on hand to join the rapper. And you can probably expect a few new tunes from 'Tha Carter IV.'

It's been 10 years since the last rap performance on MTV Unplugged, which featured Jay-Z. The first unplugged hip-hop set, from LL Cool J in 1991, is still regarded as one of the great performances in the show's history.

What should Lil Wayne perform on Unplugged? We're hoping for 'A Milli,' 'Mrs. Officer,' '6 Foot 7 Foot,' and 'Bedrock,' if he brings along the entire Young Money posse.
