Lindsay Lohan Contracts Untreatable Virus While on Vacation

The only thing worse than getting sick while you’re on vacation is contracting a rare and untreatable virus while you’re on vacation. Sadly, that’s exactly the fate currently being suffered by Lindsay Lohan. Talk about bad luck.

Lindsay’s been vacationing in French Polynesia for the past few days, as can be seen from the many photos on her Instagram account. But things took a turn for the worse when Lindsay tweeted about contracting the Chikungunya virus, urging her fans to be sure to use bug spray in order to avoid something like that in the future.

Fortunately, the Chikungunya virus is hardly ever fatal. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, it is commonly transmitted through the bite from a mosquito, and often causes fever and joint paint that can last anywhere from a few months to a few years. Sadly, there is no cure for the virus, and travelers are often encouraged to use insect repellent when traveling to places where the virus is more common amongst mosquitos.

Lindsay later took to Instagram to post a photo with the caption: "In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation... be safe and happy on the new year all #wildfox and a positive, healthy new year.” That’s the spirit, Lindsay! We hope you feel better soon!
