Linkin Park provide the theme for the upcoming 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' movie with the soaring new song 'Iridescent.'

The song first appeared on the band's 2010 album 'A Thousand Suns' but has been re-worked for use in the film. The new mix begins with a slow piano intro, leading to a pulsing beat and lyrics about alienation and hopelessness.

Frontman Chester Bennington begins to cut loose as the chorus arrives, singing: "Do you feel cold and lost in desperation? / You build up hope, but failure’s all you’ve known / Remember all the sadness and frustration / And let it go, let it go."

The track builds steadily, adding in electric guitar, potent live drums and a chorus of voices to back up Bennington over a climactic final refrain.

Linkin Park also provided the single on the 2009 'Transformers' movie 'Revenge of the Fallen.' Their song 'New Divide' gave the Grammy-winning band the first of three straight chart-toppers on the Alternative Songs chart, a streak they will look to extend with 'Iridescent.'

Mark your calendars: 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' hits theaters on July 1.
