Liz Phair is making her first touring gig in six years count — she and the Smashing Pumpkins are hitting the road.

Today (February 1), the Pumpkins announced they're extending last year's fan-adored In Plainsong tour with a series of "Acoustic-Electro Evenings" at North American theaters. The shows will kick off in March in Portland, Oregon and wrap up in April, at which point the group will hit the studio to record a new album that's inspired by the tour's stripped-down tones.

In Plainsong includes barer renditions of tracks from the Pumpkin's 20-plus-year catalog.

"What started as an interest in playing a truly different kind of show and looking for a different way to explore their storied musical past morphed into something new and exciting for the fans in every city," the Pumpkins' manager Peter Katsis said. "This touches the opposing side to the Pumpkins usual roar."

Tickets will go on sale on February 5 at 9 AM. Check out the dates below, and tell us if you plan to check out the show.
