We're still awaiting the followup to Lorde's brilliant debut Pure Heroine — though she did reveal that it's finally finished in a November birthday announcement — but the singer emerged for a surprise appearance on December 12, performing a stripped-down cover of Robyn's "Hang With Me" accompanied by Jack Antonoff on piano.

Lorde's performed as part of the Ally Coalition Talent Show at New York City's Webster Hall, an event organized by Bleachers musician and producer Antonoff's organization which supports homeless LGBTQ youth. Carly Rae Jepsen, Charli XCX, CHVRCHES singer Lauren Mayberry also made appearances, with Mayberry delivering an acoustic cover of Katy Perry's "Firework."
