‘Love Actually’ Cast to Reunite for Ten Minute Mini-Sequel

Love-Actually

Love Actually remains one of the most celebrated holiday films of the modern era, and it’s finally getting a sequel. Sort of.

Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Martine McCutcheon, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, Andrew Lincoln and Rowan Atkinson have all signed on to reunite for a forthcoming mini-sequel as part of Comic Relief’s annual charity event, Red Nose Day.

Most of the film’s 2003 cast — minus Emma Thompson and the late Alan Rickman — will revive their characters in an original script penned by Love Actually director Richard Curtis.

“I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do 10 minutes to see what everyone is now up to,” Curtis explained via press release. “Who has aged best? – I guess that’s the big question… or is it so obviously Liam?”

The forthcoming mini-sequel — titled Red Nose Day Actually — will be set in present-day and will explore where the movie’s beloved characters are in 2017.

“We’ve been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part – and it’ll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later,” Curtis said. “We hope to make something that’ll be fun – very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day – and which we hope will help bring lots of viewers and cash to the Red Nose Day shows.”

The Love Actually sequel will premiere in the UK on Red Nose Day, which falls on March 24th. U.S. viewers, meanwhile, will have to wait until May 25th, when Red Nose Day coverage will be broadcast on NBC.
