Forget Rihanna and Jennifer Nettles. As unlikely musical couples go, it doesn't get much stranger than country singer Jason Aldean and rapper Ludacris, who will team up for a performance at tonight's CMT Music Awards.

Ryan Seacrest broke the news that Ludacris re-wrote a verse of Aldean's last single, 'Dirt Road Anthem.' The song features spoken-word, country-rap verses, so maybe adding Luda isn't such a stretch. Can the Atlanta rapper relate to Aldean's tune about "chillin' on a dirt road" in the rural south? We'll find out in a few hours.

Aldean has had a huge run of success over the last few years on the country charts, including a No. 1 duet with Kelly Clarkson, 'Don't You Wanna Stay.' He leads the pack with four nominations tonight.

The fan-voted CMT Music Awards have shown a willingness to be a little more edgy than the traditional country music award shows, so their invitation to Ludacris might actually make perfect sense. Kid Rock hosts the bash tonight on CMT.
