Ludacris Will Perform ‘Dirt Road Anthem’ at the CMT Awards With Jason Aldean
Forget Rihanna and Jennifer Nettles. As unlikely musical couples go, it doesn’t get much stranger than country singer Jason Aldean and rapper Ludacris, who will team up for a performance at tonight’s CMT Music Awards.
Ryan Seacrest broke the news that Ludacris re-wrote a verse of Aldean’s last single, ‘Dirt Road Anthem.’ The song features spoken-word, country-rap verses, so maybe adding Luda isn’t such a stretch. Can the Atlanta rapper relate to Aldean’s tune about “chillin’ on a dirt road” in the rural south? We’ll find out in a few hours.
Aldean has had a huge run of success over the last few years on the country charts, including a No. 1 duet with Kelly Clarkson, ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay.’ He leads the pack with four nominations tonight.
The fan-voted CMT Music Awards have shown a willingness to be a little more edgy than the traditional country music award shows, so their invitation to Ludacris might actually make perfect sense. Kid Rock hosts the bash tonight on CMT.
