Luke Evans is reportedly set to star opposite Emma Watson in the upcoming version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast live-action remake. According to Variety, the Fast & Furious 6 actor is in negotiations for the role of Gaston, as production for the film is set to begin at some point this year. Although not officially confirmed, Luke did tweet out the Variety article.

The role of Gaston was reportedly first offered to Eddie Redmayne (who recently won a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything), but Eddie allegedly turned it down. Rumors have been flying that the studio wants Ryan Gosling to play the role of the Beast, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens is in negotiations to play the Beast. The only casting decision that we are 100% sure of is Emma Watson, who is set to play Belle. She let fans in on the decision via her Facebook page, writing, "I’m finally able to tell you that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There.’”

She continued, writing, "My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Beauty and the Beast isn't the first Disney classic to be remade into a live-action version. Cinderella, starring Lily James, is set to hit theaters later this month (March 13), and The Jungle Book is also being remade and set for a 2016 release.
