Marc Anthony Says Infidelity Rumors Are ‘Laughable’
Marc Anthony broke his silence about his split with Jennifer Lopez in an interview with ABC's 'Nightline.' He was incredibly calm and even-keel about the difficult subject matter. "It's a decision that we made jointly," he said when asked if he wanted the divorce. That sort of answers the question.
Anthony didn't shy away from tackling the many rumors that dogged his union with J. Lo. "It was the pilot, I heard," he joked about the rumors that he had an affair with a flight attendant. "It's laughable," he said about the rumors of an affair with 'HawthoRNe' co-star Jada Pinkett-Smith.
What about the stories of his jealousy over the fact that his wife's star was soaring again, thanks to 'American Idol?'
It's easy to forget that Anthony is superstar in his own right, as the modern day king of salsa who has sold 13 million albums. "I supported her from day one," he said, shooting down stories of his jealousy over her perceived level of fame.
"We're going to be in each other's lives for many, many years," he said. "I am glad our friendship is that strong." He also said that they are "partners for life," thanks to their similar upbringings as New York-born Puerto Ricans.
The sharply dressed Anthony was even wearing duds from the his-and-hers line that he and Lopez designed for Kohl's. He is not, however, ready to get back in the ring that is the dating world! "That's like asking a boxer in the 12th round if he is going to retire afterwards," Anthony said. Point taken.
Overall, the singer was respectful towards wife, if a little stoic.
