Since the news first broke of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's high-profile breakup, the media has swirled with rumors as to the reason for the split. Page Six, for one, claimed that Jolie filed for divorce after discovering her husband and partner for over a decade was having an affair with his Allied co-star, French actress Marion Cotillard.

"[Jolie] hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with [Cotillard] on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw," a supposedly "well-placed source" told Page Six.

Late Thursday night (September 21), however, Cotillard vehemently denied the allegations via a lengthy message shared on her Instagram.

"This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into. I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up," the actress wrote.

"Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need," Cotillard posted, announcing her pregnancy and referencing her long-time partner, French actor and director Guillaume Canet, who she has been with since 2007 and with whom she already shares a child.

She continued: "Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn't distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery."

Cotillard concluded her statement by wishing peace to Jolie and Pitt.

"Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment," she wrote.
