Maroon 5 Wins the 2011 American Music Award for Best Pop / Rock Band

Maroon 5 won the first award presented at tonight’s American Music Awards, for Best Pop / Rock Artist in the band, duo or group category, beating out LMFAO and OneRepublic.

Despite this being the first time the band had won this prestigious award, largely on the strength of their current hit single ‘Moves Like Jagger,’ frontman Adam Levine and his mates were able to get over their excitement and compose themselves enough to utter a few words of thanks.

We wish we could quote exactly what Levine says, but the simple fact is, we got lost in his dreamy, smoky eyes. It was something about having the best fans in the world, and how this all wouldn’t be possible without them.

It was also announced that Maroon 5 will perform ‘Jagger’ together with Levine’s ‘The Voice’ co-judge Christina Aguilera later on the show. You can bet we’ll cover that in full detail very shortly.
