It looks as if singer Mary J. Blige was rocking it out with veteran guitarist Slash (of Guns 'N' Roses and Velvet Revolver fame) during a late-night studio session.

The rocker announced on his Twitter account that he and the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul were in the studio creating magic. "Just finished a session w/Mike Clink engineering on a track w/Mary j Blige. Sounds killer!" he tweeted. Oh boy, we can hardly wait!

It's not particularly clear where the song will end up, but the overall consensus is that it will appear on Blige's 10 album 'My Life II: The Journey Continues.' The collection is tentatively due in November.

Keeping with the rock theme, Blige just completed work on the film 'Rock of Ages,' which is based on the popular Broadway musical of the same name. In the movie, the singer plays Justice Charlier an owner of a popular strip club who meets Tom Cruise's character, bad-boy rocker Stacee Jaxx.

Blige reveals that Cruise didn't need any help singing his lines. "I [didn't] have to coach Tom. He actually sounds really good. He can do anything," she says. Blige also sings two ’80s classics in the film: Pat Benetar’s ‘Shadows of the Night’ and Journey’s ‘Any Way You Want It.’ 'Rock of Ages' is slated to hit theaters in June 2012.
