R&B singer Mary J. Blige has written and recorded a new song for the upcoming feature film 'The Help.' The tune, 'The Living Proof,' will appear in the movie and on the film's soundtrack album.

'The Help' is based on a best-selling novel by Kathryn Stockett that chronicles the lives of three very different women who undertake a secret writing project in Mississippi during the '60s. It stars Emma Stone ('Easy A'), Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer. Blige was inspired to write the song after viewing an early screening of the film.

"The beautiful thing about these women is that they were very smart," says MJB in a press release. "They chose to walk in love and forgiveness. To speak to so many women with this song means a lot to me, I wanted to be involved with this film, because I think we need to encourage each other more, we are here to tell a story."

'The Living Proof' will be heard in the film, which hits theaters Aug. 12, and will be included on the soundtrack, which will be available at Starbucks locations beginning July 26.
