MC Hammer (real name Stanley Kirk Burrell) is a proud Oaklander who's still '2 Legit 2 Quit.' A former bat boy for the Oakland A's baseball team, Hammer earned his nickname for resembling baseball icon "Hammerin'" Hank Aaron.

As an entertainer, Hammer brought excitement to the rap game with his energetic dance movements, stage shows and those infamous Hammer harem pants. He created the blueprint -- musically, fashionably and financially -- that other rappers would soon follow.

Hammer's chart-topping hits include 'Turn This Mutha Out,' 'Let's Get It Started,' 'Pumps and a Bump,' and, of course, the Rick James-sampled 'U Can't Touch This.'

Although the 50-year-old entertainer's financial woes curtailed his success in the late 1990s, Hammer eventually recovered. Most recently, Hammer appeared at the 40th annual American Music Awards with Korean pop star Psy to perform a mashup of 'Gangnam Style' and '2 Legit 2 Quit.'
