The concept of Meiko's 'Be Mine' lyric video is simple -- and that's exactly how she wanted it.

"My new album, 'Dear You,' is comprised mostly of unsent letters to former lovers turned into songs -- so when the time came to make a lyric video for the first single, 'Be Mine,' I wanted to somehow incorporate a pen-to-paper visual," Meiko explains to PopCrush.

We love Meiko's modern take on the vintage concept of writing love letters. There's something super romantic about preserving classic traditions, but with a current twist. The lyric video (which you can check out exclusively above) also incorporates this idea into the use of color. While the majority of the vid shows black words on white paper, certain lyrics in the chorus are repeated in bold, neon shades, emphasizing the emotions of the song.

"I literally sat down on my living room floor with a bottle of wine and scribbled the lyrics out to that song in one night, so this lyric video perfectly encapsulates the creation of the song!" Meiko excitedly shares.
