Melanie Amaro Makes Viewers and Judges ‘Listen’ on ‘X Factor’

Melanie Amaro was a bit overshadowed by R. Kelly during her first performance on tonight's episode of 'X Factor,' so she had to come out and performed a $5 million song flawlessly. She rebounded quite beautifully with a show-stopping rendition of Beyonce's 'Listen.' Amaro offered up a $10 million performance, for sure. She made us sit up and listen.

Amaro, who was initially rejected by Simon Cowell only to have him fly to her home in Florida to bring her back for the live rounds, has the voice and constitution of a diva. Mel's specialty is big, fill-the-room ballads and at this point, she is without question the most technically skilled singer of the remaining competitors. She has a gorgeous voice, and we doubt we'll find anyone who disputes this fact.

While there's no worries that she will hit the notes, her performances lack that "oomph" and connection that Chris Rene and Josh Krajcik have.

But it's not up to PopCrush or even the judges' panel. It's up to the voters and viewers to decide who is going to be the first American 'X Factor' winner.
