Sling your arrows and throw your stones, Ghostbusters haters—Melissa McCarthy knows you simply have nothing better to do. She and her cast-mates are well aware of of the misogynist and hateful comments online trolls have been making about the upcoming remake of the '80s classic, particularly on YouTube. But she ain't mad... she just feels bad for them!

In a new interview with The Guardian, the Gilmore Girls actress addresses the vicious backlash over the forthcoming summer film, and she doesn't mince words. "All those comments... ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really? Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood? I have a visual of those people not having a Ben [Falcone, her husband], not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the Internet," she says. "I just hope they find a friend."

As for the critics who have been harsh about her physical appearance, particularly her weight, or that she plays the same "schtick" in each film, McCarthy adds that she feels "bad for someone who is swimming in so much hate." Yet at the same time, she rises above it. "I don’t feel anger," she decides. "I just feel trepidation when I think of my [daughters]. Like, is this still really going on today? I guess it is."

It is, indeed—but hopefully, with more films being made with women at the helm and at the center, the tide will continue to turn.
