Thing Named After Michael Jackson: Mesoparapylocheles michaeljacksoni - a pre-historic hermit crab named after the King of Pop

The late Michael Jackson has a pre-historic hermit crab named in his honor and it's not for the reason you think.

The little hermit crab is now extinct, but it lived out its days on Earth in an area around Spain. Unfortunately, the researchers who discovered this species of crustacean didn't name it in MJ's honor because it scooted backwards like his famous Moonwalk. They made their breakthrough discovery on the day Michael passed away -- June 25, 2009.

Some fans played Michael's music, others impersonated his dance moves, but these guys decided to pay tribute to MJ the only way they knew how -- by naming an extinct hermit crab after the legendary pop star.
