This past weekend, Miley Cyrus received the Vanguard Award from the Los Angeles LGBT Center, Noisey reports, to recognize all of the philanthropy she has done for LGBTQ youth with her Happy Hippie Foundation. As the foundation's manifesto declares, "We will make some noise and cause a scene!" all in the name of change, and the Vanguard Award proves that she's done just that.

But a public appearance from Miley Cyrus wouldn't be complete without her doing something at least mildly outlandish. Charged with the task of helping Linda Perry auction off a white grand piano to raise money for the Center, Cyrus not only autographed the instrument in an attempt to add value...she also licked it.

And, for once, all of the tongue-wagging that caused such an uproar during her Bangerz campaign paid off (literally): the piano went on to sell for a whopping $50,000!

Despite her slight spectacle during the auction, Cyrus' acceptance speech really tempered her behavior and proved beyond a doubt that she is a great spokesperson for the LGBT community. She began the speech with a series of stories about the incredible people she's met since working with Happy Hippie, instilling each bit with witty banter and some expletive humor.

After the stories, she then transitioned into the heart of her speech, reveling at what it feels like "to be in a room full of so many people who care so much about others because unfortunately that is just way too rare in the world that we live in today."

"I'm thinking of tonight," she continued, "as not celebrating what we've already done but what we're doing and what we're gonna do in the future."
