Guess who's back? Missy Elliott will drop two new singles next month, according to her longtime collaborator Timbaland. The veteran producer made the announcement on his Twitter page that Misdemeanor will release '9th Inning' and 'Triple Threat' in early September.

"Oh snapp yall my sista @MissyElliott is droppin her singles #9thinning and #triplethreat labor day weekend. watch it world we backk!!!," Timbo wrote on Friday (Aug. 24). Missy added to the conversation, warning fans that her music will be something different from what they are use to hearing from them. "[Timbaland] Betta let em know don't expect the a-- shake music we always do. Time 2 go more futuristic," she tweeted. Both tracks will presumably appear on Missy's new album tentatively titled 'Block Party.'

It's been seven years since we last heard any new material from the veteran artist. Missy's last album was 'The Cookbook,' which was release in 2005. Most recently, the Grammy-winning rapper appeared on J. Cole's 'Nobody's Perfect' and on remixes by M.I.A. and Katy Perry.

It will be interesting to see how Missy reinvents herself in today's music scene. She said she's bringing something "futuristic," which doesn't necessarily translate to "hit single" sometimes. But Missy's track record is damn near spotless when it comes to making certified bangers.

Meanwhile, on Saturday (Aug. 25), Missy took time out to honor Aaliyah on the eleventh anniversary of her untimely death. Missy eulogized the late songbird with the tweet below:
