Mariah Carey's first Mother's Day came hot on the heels of the birth of her girl-boy twins Monroe and Moroccan. She gave birth to the tots on April 30 and a week and a day later, she was celebrating Mother's Day with a special gift from hubby and baby daddy Nick Cannon.

Cannon gifted his wife with a nice piece o' bling in the form of a 4-carat diamond and sapphire necklace, complete with 14-karat white and rose gold, from Jason of Beverly Hills. The necklace boasts the babies' names, so they will always be close to her heart, even if she is on tour, in the studio or anywhere else.

PEOPLE reports that jeweler Jason Arasheben said, “Nick was really excited about the babies’ names and wanted to do a piece with them for Mariah’s first Mother’s Day. Pink sapphires are bright and bold and diamonds are always so classic." The piece set Cannon back quite a few G's. The sparkling bauble is valued at $12,000.

A different PEOPLE source is quoted as saying, “Nick came in and met with Jason on the Friday after his twins were born. He was bleary eyed, looking so tired but so happy — all smiles, saying he wanted to design something special for Mariah’s first Mother’s day. He [wanted] to surprise her on Sunday.”

Carey has her own jewelry and accessories line which she hawks on HSN. Apparently, Cannon has a thing for giving his wife expensive gifts that she can festoon her fingers, neck and wrists with.
