Scholastic has announced via a press release that Nick Cannon -- the actor, DJ, singer and host of 'America's Got Talent' -- will be releasing a book of poems aimed at children titled 'Neon Aliens Ate My Homework and Other Poems.' The book is being prepped for a March 2015 release date.

In addition to poetry, the book will will feature illustrations by Cannon, as well as black and white art from renowned street artists such as Art Mobb (aka Michael Farhat), Califawnia (aka Fawn Arthur), Captain Kris (aka Kristian Douglas), Morf (aka Jack Fish), Queen Andrea (aka Andrea von Bujdoss), MAST, and Mike P.

Cannon said in a statement that he has always wanted to find a way to combine poetry and hip-hop. “Writing is at the center of everything I do as an artist," he states. "Doing creative writing—especially writing poetry—is when I felt the calmest and freest. As a kid, it was my escape from the inner-city pitfalls."

"When I was eight years old, I got a spiral notebook and wrote my first poem/rap. I filled that notebook with poems, rhymes, jokes, and witty stories. I still keep one to this day. I hope that poems in 'Neon Aliens' will help inspire kids to want to get out a pen and paper to write or draw their own thoughts, rhymes, and stories.”

This Christmas, Cannon will also be releasing a children's Christmas book titled 'Roc and Roe’s Twelve Days of Christmas' featuring his twins with Mariah Carey, Moroccan and Monroe.
