If you’re a fan of late ’90s / early ’00s boy bands, AND you love medium-budget zombie movies, you’re in for a real treat.

Former *NSYNC member Joey Fatone has taken shots at the Backstreet Boys before, and Nick Carter expressed his disappointment in that choice last year. Fortunately for us all, the onetime teen idols have set aside petty differences for a larger purpose: Acting in a zombie movie written, directed by and starring Nick Carter himself.

In the years since the peak of BSB and *NSYNC’s popularity, various members’ careers have ebbed and flowed. While most never evolved into entertainment-powerhouse status like Justin Timberlake, there’s always competition shows to judge (see: JC Chasez on America’s Best Dance Crew) or crossover team-ups to launch with other boy band members (such as Carter’s Nick & Knight group with Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block). Over the years, as boy band members grew into man-band members or eschewed a further music career altogether, it’s been nice to see the members team up with guys from bands that were once viewed as their direct competition. It seems like a very supportive community, with a shared formative experience that we outsiders can’t ever truly understand.

This interconnected, collaborative atmosphere — plus the need for income that diminishing royalties may not cover — has brought us what’s sure to be a must-see television event. As PEOPLE magazine reports, Nick’s passion project is titled Dead Seven, and it will air on the SyFy network. Zombies are involved. But also, it’s a Western? Nick’s script is making nothing but sense already.

The trio of co-stars-to-be stopped by San Diego Comic-Con to promote the movie, and Nick let Buzzfeed know the key to its almost-certain success. “Think about it,” Nick said. “Boy-banders, people from the late ‘90s, people who you love, fighting zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. Pretty crazy, right?” SO right!

Carter will play the hero, naturally, with Fatone lending support on the good guys’ side. According to PEOPLE, McLean “will star as the apprentice to the main villain.” Aw come on! AJ deserves to be Villain #1, given the all of the menacing soul patch/funky shades/cool hat combos he rocked in the heyday of his status as Backstreet bad-boy.

If all of this doesn’t bode well enough, Dead Seven will be produced by The Asylum, the company that brought us the cultural event that is Sharknado.

Expect a nonstop spectacle of WTF, complete with cameos that will make you say stuff like, “ohhh, so THAT’s what happened to the guy from that one show,” and “what’s Vivica A. Fox doing here?”

There’s no word yet on when the TV movie will make its debut, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, let us know if you think this is Carter, Fatone and McLean’s BEST career moves ever, or just maybe one of the best.
