Nick Lachey, Vanessa Minnillo Spend ‘Mini’ Honeymoon in St. Barts

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are enjoying their new life as husband and wife. The gorgeous couple said "I do" last week in a surprise ceremony consisting of 35 of their family and friends in the British Virgin Islands. Well now the newlyweds are kicking back, as they are enjoying a "mini-moon" in St. Barts!

According to PEOPLE, the Lacheys forfeited taking a full-blown honeymoon to their dream destination of the Maldives at this time due to their hectic schedules, but wanted to work in a little get-away to continue their wedding bliss.

"We just wanted something relaxing," Lachey tells the magazine. "We weren't necessarily able to take our dream honeymoon because of timing, but we'll take this mini-moon and do that one later."

As for their wedding, Lachey is still reliving the magical moments in his mind when he first saw his stunning bride walking down the aisle. "It literally took my breath away," he says. "It's a moment you fantasize about, and I was certainly not disappointed."

"I wanted to be in that long traditional wedding gown with heels, and I wanted my groom in a tux and shoes ... Not barefoot on the beach," adds Minnillo. "There was just something so timeless, beautiful and romantic about having that element of a traditional wedding."

As for the fairytale location, the couple picked the secluded beaches of Necker Island. "We love to travel, and we love Necker Island," says Lachey. "We've vacationed there multiple times, and when we got engaged, we both immediately thought of the island as the perfect place to have our wedding."

"We were on a boat -- on vacation -- passing the island, and we both looked at each other and he said, 'Yes!'" recalls Minnello. "I was so glad he said what I was thinking. Nick saw it in my eyes. We used a lot of what the island had [for the wedding]. It was timeless, beautiful and romantic."
