If the students of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School wish to see one of their most famous alumni, Nicki Minaj, they'll have to purchase a concert ticket like everyone else.

Yesterday, Minaj took to Twitter to express her frustration and disappointment that the current principal at her alma mater declined to let her speak to the kids and faculty of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School.

"I wanted to go back to my HS and speak to the students but the new principal declined. No need for me to inspire them, I guess. Smh," she wrote. "That school changed my life and I wanted to pay it forward to the students there now. I was really looking forward to it."

GossipCop (via HuffPost) reports that the singer's request to speak at an assembly was denied because she wanted to bring a camera crew along.

A spokesperson for the Department of Education told the site, "Of course alumni are welcome back to our campuses and we love to celebrate their success, providing it does not interrupt the educational process. Alumni visit all the time and address students."

“However, we do not allow reality TV to be filmed on school property. For documentaries, any visit to a public school must be educational in nature and cannot intrude on instruction."
