Nicki Minaj is sitting on 'Top of the World' on a newly-leaked track that may have been recorded before she joined up with Young Money.

Like on many of the songs on her No. 1 album 'Pink Friday,' Minaj both sings and raps throughout the track. The song's poppy beat is powered by an oddly appealing distorted guitar riff.

It's funny to think that the track might have recorded before Minaj actually hit it big, considering that she's singing about her success.

Nicki opens with the hook: "I remember standing in the mirror / Searching for a winner but I didn’t see it in her / Now I’ve gone from a zero to a superhero / Chasing dreams got me all over the world / Now I’m sittin' on top of the world / We winning, we winning / Cause we sittin' on top of the world."

Besides reflecting on her fame, Minaj calls out stars who don't return to the hood, and gives insight into her motivation: "I do it for the love, I do it for the hugs / I do it for the buzz, I do it for the thugs / I do it for the rich, I do it for the poor / I do it for the kids that can’t do no more."

'Top of the World' works, both musically and lyrically. It's further proof that Minaj has a lot of great material beyond what we've heard on 'Pink Friday.'

Minaj hits the road with Britney Spears this week for the Femme Fatale Tour, where she promises to take her live performances "to the next level."
