Nicole Scherzinger channels her inner 80s child and futuristic side in her 'Boomerang' video.

Featuring short shorts, neon shading and a lot of black and white checkered print, the beginning of the clip resembles a vintage clip from the early days of MTV -- or a La Roux 'Bulletproof' tribute, since the song's message is the same: you can't hurt her!

Scherzinger also seems to channel vintage Janet Jackson, Madonna and even a bit of Britney Spears' collabo with will.i.am, 'Scream and Shout,' when she dons galactic-looking gear in black and white among clones of herself.

'Boomerang' is the first single from Scherzy's sophomore album, evoking a Jessie J vibe that's probably going to get stuck in your head for a few days upon listening. It's an appropriate debut for the starlet, whose first album, 'Killer Love,' didn't do well stateside (but did spawn several hits in the U.K.). Here's hoping for that comeback, Nic!
