Nicole Scherzinger was initially rumored to be the host of 'X Factor' but quickly filled the judge's seat vacated by Cheryl Cole. It was "Cherylgate" and caused a lot of drama, especially since Cole was a hit on the British version of the show and fell out with Simon Cowell over her dismissal from the US edition.

However, Scherzinger is handling her new gig with grace class and poise. What is she most looking forward to as the show's maiden voyage begins on Sept. 21? "I am looking forward to discovering some amazing talent and mentoring that talent," the ex-Pussycat Doll told iHeart Radio.

"I've been in the business for a minute and I have a lot of love and a lot of experience and a lot of understanding and compassion to give back. I want to empower and nurture these little artists the best I can," she cooed. There you have it. The Scherz is the foil to Cowell's overly critical, acid-tongued treatment of the contestants who come before him. The show has its mother hen and her name is Nic.

Scherzinger is able to view the contestants via a different lens and perspective, saying, "I can empathize. I got my start on a show called 'Pop Stars.' I know how nerve-wracking it can be. This a monster, auditioning for 4,000 people in a stadium!"
