The highly opinionated Noel Gallagher made an appearance on an episode of The Late Late Show With James Corden, and the host asked Gallagher to elaborate on his comments about Zayn Malik's decision to leave One Direction. The former Oasis member echoed his previous sentiments, namely that he still believes Zayn is a "f---in' idiot," though the language he used was far less colorful this time around.

Speaking to Corden he said, "I can't understand why he would do it because they've only got, at most, five years left. He should just stand at the back, smoke weed, get laid, just pick the check up. But he should get himself a good accountant."

All right, he's not completely wrong. One Direction probably could have continued on, evolved, changed the face of pop music, whatever -- but then Zayn left and took all that possibility with him. Because as hard as we may try to keep hope alive, the truth is One Direction's greatness is in the full sum of its parts, and the band has lost a significant contribution in both hotness factor and raw talent with Zayn's departure. While Gallagher's second sentence is debatably inappropriate, he's right about the need for a good accountant. That "What Makes You Beautiful" money isn't going to last forever, Zayn.

As much as we're entertained by the idea of a 2025 reunion cruise-ship tour where the members of One Direction are equal parts desperate and trapped on board with a bounty of middle-aged fans, we'd rather they commit to that tour out of newfound love for each other and a longing to return to that which changed their lives — not because Zayn blew all his money on life-size statues of Spiderman.
