There was gratitude to go around Monday night (August 20) at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards — and Fifth Harmony member Normani Kordei has given a particular shout-out to Nicki Minaj for defending her from a shady joke.

Toward the start of the show, Tiffany Haddish addressed some of the crowd's most famous stars, and when she pointed out that ex-5H member Camila Cabello had five VMAs nominations for solo work, she shadily observed "Hi, Fifth Harmony!"

Welp, that didn't sit too well with Minaj, and when the Queen rapper took the stage to accept a Moonman for Best Hip-Hop video, she let Tiff know what's what.

Nicki told Tiffany not to come for 5H because "Normani is THAT BITCH." And Normani, in turn, gave Nicki a whole bunch of gratitude.

"@NICKIMINAJ I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you . You perfect queen you! Thank you for lifting me up. God is real. Now y’all know I love me some Nickiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Congratulations on tonight!!! Proud of you always," she wrote.

And fans chimed in, too, happy that Minaj stood up for their girl.

"I was so happy she stuck up for y’all, I knew I stanned an unproblematic Queen," one wrote, while another noted "Can y’all not make me cry today please? Listen. Y’all already KNOW how this makes me feel."

Minaj's "Chun-Li" helped her to pick up her Moonman, while Cabello earned Artist of the Year and Video of the Year honors for "Havana." Check out some of the show's high and low moments here.
