When they're not selling out arena tours, recording a new album and dispelling rumors of lingering resentment toward former member Zayn Malik, One Direction pursue their other lifelong passion: dodgeball.

"It definitely feels like the last five years of being in this band has all been in preparation for this game," Harry Styles says.

That's right. The boys of the newly minted fourpiece are all about big red rubber balls — at least that was the running gag for a hilarious sketch that aired on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Thursday night (May 14).

"The Beatles were nothing until they won at dodgeball! The Rolling Stones were nothing until they won at dodgeball!" Corden declared.

Dressed in white jerseys, tiny red shorts, knee-high gym socks and the occasional sporty headband, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall "the Gun" Horan, took the court as team Corden's Angels, with the hard-driving late-night talk show host as their captain. They faced off against Los Angeles' all-lady team the Ball Busters in a best-of-three matchup, and boy, it wasn't pretty.

Not only did the men suffer an embarrassing 2-1 loss, both Harry and Niall took some mighty hits to their nether regions. "He won't have any trouble hitting the high notes after that one!" the announcer proclaimed.
