Will One Direction Be Drug Tested for Philippines Concerts?
One Direction fans are not happy about an anti-drug group that is attempting to force the band to be drug tested before their upcoming concerts in the Philippines.
An army of angry Directioners took to Twitter on Thursday (March 12) and began trending the hashtag #StopTheDRUGTESTfor1DPH in response to the group's outcry, tweeting everything from hilarious memes to some serious emotion.
But before we get to the fan reactions (which you can check out below), let us give you a little back story about how the whole thing started:
According to Gossip Cop, organization Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino petitioned the government to make 1D take drug tests before they enter the country for their On the Road Again tour stops on March 21 and 22 in Manila. Why? Because of that infamous video of Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik smoking pot in Peru that surfaced last year. In fact, the group's Facebook even posted a still from the video, which features a screenshot of Zayn smoking. The photo is emblazoned with the words, "One Direction marijuana scandal. No drug test no entry."
Gossip Cop reports that an advocate for the group explained the reasoning behind their agenda and said, "This is for the welfare of their fans, mostly youth." The site also reports that a bureau commissioner is quoted as saying, "If given enough information, we can actually prevent these drug users from entering the country." Hmmm.
Needless to say, fans are pretty pissed about the whole situation and have responded accordingly. Check out fan reactions below.
