Ut oh! One Direction and Directioners had their safety compromised in Perth, Australia. The band's entourage had to blow through not one, not two, but three red lights upon arrival the other night.

The reason for the recklessness? No, they weren't showing off mad driving skillz a la Justin Bieber. They were trying to escape a pack of rabid Directioners who were chasing them through the city.

It sounds like everyone's safety was in jeopardy and now, the traffic authorities are involved.

The band landed via private jet and was being transported to a hotel. Approximately 15 Directioners followed and the boys were attempting to make a clean getaway.

Yeah, well, the local cops didn't appreciate the flagrant disregard for vehicular and pedestrian safety.

Western Australia Assistant Commissioner Nick Anticich confirmed that an investigation into the matter has been launched.

"I have been made aware of it, and I've asked our traffic enforcement group to have a look at it," he said, according to E!." We need to determine the facts and obviously if there's any evidence supporting the allegations."

What is clear is that he does not like how things went down. "It's unacceptable behavior. It breaches the law and we will deal with every person in the same way," he said.

Translation: One Direction and their posse will get no special treatment because they are famous.

Anticich added, "By virtue of the fact that they are rock stars is not a license to break any laws or be any different from anyone else. One Direction they may be, but the only direction in relation to this type offending will be to the courts."

Wow, he made a funny! We still wouldn't want to get on his bad side.

Police Minister Liza Harvey also suggested the boys should set a proper example for their fans, saying, "It's an operational matter for police but I would encourage One Direction to pull their head in in Western Australia and set an example for their predominantly young fans. It's a clear message for everyone who uses our roads. We have really strong legislation in this state and that applies to everybody who visits here."

She continued, "We extend a warm welcome [to One Direction] but when you're here we expect you to apply the same standards that we apply to our community."

A rep for the band weighed in, saying, "The primary focus of security team is fan safety," confirming that it was the fans who were driving like maniacs and that they ran two red lights.

The band also stopped at a gas station to ask the fans to amend their behavior and drive safely.

Our advice? Stay off the sidewalks when 1D are in town!
